Current Opportunity

The Business Development Executive is a key role within the Clients & Markets team in Sydney, responsible primarily to assist our Partners and Industry teams in business development targeting activity.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Clients & Markets team to support the firm’s growth strategy by helping, coaching and engaging our Partners, Business unit leaders and Industry teams to attract new clients.
  • Work with Partners, industry teams and service lines to research, identify, track and manage activity with selected target organisations.
  • Assist the Partner/Associate Director group establish and develop relationships with potential clients of the firm, in particular off the back of firm events and digital engagement.
  • Support projects, initiatives, tenders, pitches and credentials in conjunction with other team members and internal colleagues.
  • Develop targeted campaigns to support the business units and industry teams in pursuit of new business development opportunities.
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to understand and communicate BDO's business, marketplace and value proposition. Bring new ideas and methods to share with team members to ensure that best practice is maintained and client and sector intelligence is communicated.
  • Using systems and tracking of BD/target activity in our CRM system.
  • Work collaboratively with a national business development team to design, execute and deliver internal campaigns and BD training.
  • Work with the Clients & Markets team, including in the areas of communications and events to identify new business opportunities and lead generation strategies.

Skills / Attributes Required

  • Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and embrace change.
  • Commercial awareness and an innovative mind-set for developing and evolving ways of working.
  • Strategic thinker with strong focus on execution with the ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships for results.
  • Good understanding of business systems and data, to assist with business insights and opportunity spotting.
  • Experience in a similar role with a business-to-business service organisation or professional services firm is preferable, but not essential.
  • Knowledge in the development, management and execution of sales and BD planning, lead generation, pipeline management and key client accounts.
  • Well-developed research, literacy and analytical skills and the ability to succinctly distil and present key research findings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree (marketing, business, economics or research focused)
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a professional services environment would be highly regarded.
