Our Team

Bird & Bird's Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team's mission is to build the firm's profile, win new work and strengthen and deepen client relationships. Our global team comprises over 100 specialists in marketing communications, business development and client service, all working closely as part of our international network of MBD colleagues based across our 29 offices worldwide. Whether it's driving a new content strategy, pitching for cutting-edge work, building our brand or contributing to the development of our client relationships, we're committed to providing exceptional service to the firm and are known for leading the way when it comes to new technology and solutions. The Opportunity

What are we looking for?

Working within the international Client Service & Insight team, this established but evolving role will:

  • Provide account management support for a portfolio of Chinese headquartered and multinational strategic clients
  • Work with the wider Client Services & Insights team, as well as the Asia Pacific Regional Head of Marketing & Business Development, to maximise inbound opportunities from the Strategic Client Programme into Asia Pacific
  • Proactively contribute to the ongoing sharing of best practice and Asia Pacific intelligence with international MBD team members
  • Implement and manage client engagement processes including Pitch Debriefs and Client Listening Interviews
  • Contribute proactively to/manage projects relating to the continuous improvement of the Strategic Client Programme

Your impact in the role

Account Management for Key Clients

  • Account manage a portfolio of the firm's most valuable clients, driving the spread of work and revenue growth
  • Develop and implement effective account strategies and plans aligned with client issues and priorities
  • Manage and execute account team co-ordination and communication and drive account activity
  • Work closely with MBD colleagues to ensure that projects and campaigns are focused on client needs and are utilised effectively to develop key relationships
  • Identify new business opportunities with clients and connect (and coach) appropriate teams to pursue these opportunities
  • Co-ordinate client pitch materials, including responses to RFPs, and conduct preparatory sessions with partners prior to client meetings
  • Build direct relationships with clients in order to understand their issues and tailor our services and client solutions to better meet their needs
  • Work with the firm’s Commercial Accountants to improve profitability & pricing
  • Ensure client service requests are satisfied, including all service commitments and reporting agreed with the client

Conduct Client Listening activities

  • Establish credibility with clients by ensuring we conduct independent interviews and pitch debriefs and use the intelligence to provide an excellent client experience
  • Conduct interviews to a high-quality standard then debrief and drive action

Key/Strategic Client Programme projects

  • Contribute proactively to the ongoing development of the Client Relationship team and raise its profile within Bird & Bird
  • Proactively share best practice ideas and learnings with the team
  • Contribute success stories for internal and external communications

Your skills and experience

The successful candidate will be proactive and self-motivated with excellent communication and project management skills. They will have significant expertise in account relationship management and demonstrable experience building strategic business relationships and pursuing new business. This role requires a proven track record for standards of excellence and the successful candidate needs to be able to gain swift credibility with stakeholders in order to coach and influence behaviours.
