The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Adviser to join our Clients and Markets team. In this role you will provide support to Australia's leading Major Projects and Construction team in the management of bids, development and implementation of client and business development plans, and associated marketing activities.

This role can be based in either our Sydney or Melbourne office and will provide support to both our Sydney and Melbourne Clients and Markets Managers.

Our Major Projects and Construction group works on some of the most significant and complex infrastructure, construction, engineering and contract mining projects in the Asia-Pacific region. This role will see you interacting daily with our Partners, advising on all aspects of the bid process, client and events management, research and analysis, writing and preparation of other marketing collateral and client communications.

Key Responsibilities

This fast-paced and busy role will see you working on:

  • Managing and preparing tender responses and submissions for the group.
  • Conducting research and analyse market, industry, competitor and prospective client information to support business development initiatives.
  • Internal and external firm client events including seminars, briefings, luncheons, and client entertainment.
  • Preparing tailored marketing collateral (including partner profiles, capability statements, client and industry presentations, etc.).
  • Assisting in the management of key client accounts.
  • Developing strategy and managing implementation of direct marketing initiatives and client events.
  • Coordinating the practice group's input into legal directories and industry publications.
  • Updating Clients and Markets tools and databases.
  • Processing all Clients and Markets related expenses and expense claims in a timely manner.
  • Developing a profile and credibility with internal clients (i.e. lawyers and other employees), actively promoting the Clients and Markets function, its expertise and capabilities.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in marketing, or business-related discipline or law.
  • A minimum of 3 years' business development, marketing, events, communications, or related experience.
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment is advantageous.
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office and a sound understanding of databases (experience using InterAction is highly desirable).
  • Energy, drive, resilience and a sense of urgency and commitment that will enable you to guide and influence decision making, as well as organise and manage business development activities
  • In addition to this, we're looking for a resilient, self-starter. Someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients.
