Why are we looking?

An opportunity now exists for an experienced Business Development professional to join our Business Development team in Perth on a 12 month contract. We are looking for a solutions-focussed, proactive and collaborative individual who is flexible, agile and adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset.

Position Summary

The Business Development Adviser (BDA) provides business development advisory services and support for the Perth partnership and drives growth initiatives for a portfolio which includes the Perth office and a combination of national Practice Groups and/or clients and/or strategic projects.

The role requires strategic thinking, influencing and hands-on execution skills.

The BDA works in collaboration with the Perth Partner in Charge (PiC), Practice Group Leaders (PGLs), Client Relationship Partners (CRPs), members of the Business Development and Communications teams, Business Services, and Partners to manage business development and revenue initiatives, drive growth and increase the firm's external profile.

Working with senior leaders and Partners, the BDA will be expected to influence the direction and focus of the firm's activity in the Perth market, Practice Group(s) and priority client(s) within the portfolio, identify and flexibly respond to changes in priorities and align support/resources to ensure effective execution of initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strategic and tactical marketing experience
  • Sales theory and strategy, including pricing
  • Business, practice and/or client planning and execution
  • Project management and facilitation skills
  • Tender/proposal management, drafting and development of key messaging skills
  • Advanced business writing skills
  • Advanced presentation skills (oral presentation skills and the ability to present with impact)
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Senior stakeholder management – internal and market-facing
  • People management/development/mentoring skills

Required Qualifications and Preferred Experience

  • Marketing degree or relevant business qualification
  • 5+ years experience in a professional services firm or large corporate organisation
  • Experience in managing major tenders and/or commercial proposals
  • Experience in development marketing/business plans
  • High value sales experience
  • Experience in client management
  • Experience or exposure supporting similar practice groups or industries.
