Working closely with senior BD leadership and relevant key partners, this role will drive service line business development strategy, enhance the client experience and improve market success of teams and individuals within the group through the implementation of business development and marketing plans, facilitation of pursuits, contribution to and management of pitch processes, partner and talent coaching, client account management and contribution and management of client listening reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with partners to provide tactical and strategic support of the group and individual’s business development strategy and strategic priorities. Lead work streams/s for particular national strategic priorities as identified key stakeholders.
  • Lead and encourage active support of the group’s Client Listening strategy including conducting relationship, matter and pitch debriefs, sharing insights across the group and continually looking for ways to improve the client experience.
  • Act as Client Relationship Manager for priority firm or practice clients as identified through the Client Portfolio Strategy. Work with the CRPs to develop, grow and maintain relationships with nominated clients.
  • Work with partners, client and sectors BD leads to identify opportunities and facilitate pursuits.
  • Contribute to the preparation of pitch and bid documents, either leading the pitch process for clients or contributing the component to firm-wide pitches.
  • Lead and contribute to marketing and profile raising activities for the group including management and preparation of BD events (working with the Events team). Also work with Brand, Marketing and Communications team to identify and develop marketing and profile raising strategies including content and thought leadership.
  • Formally advise and coach partners and up and coming talent in the development of their practice
  • Champion firm wide business development initiatives within the group, working with BD Lead, individuals partners and Section Head to manage and implement appropriate approach for group.
  • Support and contribute to broader discrete firm wide project based activities and initiatives.
  • Research and provide market information, intelligence and analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with other BD team members regionally and globally as necessary to achieve the group and the firm’s BD objectives.

Role Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience in business development manager or senior adviser role with a particular focus on strategic selling, pursuits management, account management and relationship building preferably with a professional services focus.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the different service lines.
  • Project management skills as well as experience in writing and managing major tenders and bids. Demonstrates sound organisational, planning and project administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities, building strategic relationships and networks externally and internally, managing clients and pursuing new business.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute against business development plans/goals.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and strong work ethic with a willingness to accept ownership of and follow up on tasks without prompting.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders whilst maintaining a firm first approach when decision making.
  • Ability to confidently communicate and deal with senior partners/managers/ staff and clients. Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trusting relationships with the partnership and business services alike.
  • Demonstrated ability in navigating complex matrix organisations.
  • Inherent drive to succeed, and proven ability to develop and execute solutions to short term barriers and setbacks.
  • Appropriate undergraduate degree qualifications. Post graduate qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Professional and commercial approach to business.
