With a focus on understanding client's commercial needs, our client is dedicated to building long and lasting relationships with their clients.

Reporting to the National Business Development Director, you will work with the managers to drive key client relationships, winning work through targeting pitching and pursuits, and further enhancing the firm's reputation in the market through events and various profile raising initiatives.

The firm supports the development of its people and new ideas are welcomed – there will be opportunity to shape the role over time. The BD and Marketing team is well-positioned to influence change, building a reputation of being true business collaborators and actively contributing to the firm’s success.

Role responsibilities

  • Acting as a business partner in developing quality and strategically targeted tender responses and capability statements.
  • Managing the league tables process to promote the firm’s corporate advisory offering
  • Preparing directory and award submissions, including gathering required submission information, organising and preparing partners for interviews, and internal and external communications.
  • Working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute events, including as part of major sponsorships.
  • Drafting content for release internally, on the website, LinkedIn, or as press releases, particularly in relation to specific deals and transactions.
  • Remaining up to date on recent firm deals and transactions and working with other members of the marketing team to keep practice publications and thought leadership current.
  • Updating website content on a regular basis.
  • Reviewing sponsorship and award opportunities as they arise.
  • Updating tender precedents including practice group descriptions and firm policy text etc.
  • Undertaking industry, client and firm research projects as required.
  • Participating in client initiatives and sector pursuits including contributing to plans, client engagement and client listening.
  • Assisting fee earners in building their BD skills.
  • Participating in team projects as requested.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Business development experience gained in a professional services environment.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills, particularly in relation to partners and senior management.
  • The ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment and juggle numerous tasks.
  • Initiative, creativity and a keen eye for detail, particularly in the drafting of compelling documents and coordination of successful client initiatives.
  • Project management skills.
  • Willingness to work autonomously.
  • Clear team spirit.
  • Active, working knowledge of marketing theory, concepts and practice.
  • Good understanding and use of Microsoft programs, InDesign would be a bonus.
