Dalton Handley is partnering with a highly successful national law firm, known for their down to earth and friendly culture; highly-regarded, experienced and inclusive BD leadership; significant growth in recent years; and a workplace culture focused on excellence without losing sight of work/life balance.

This role is broader than a typical reactive tendering role as the successful candidate will drive the strategic decision making around bid/no-bid decision making using a sophisticated bid go/no-go framework. The firm aims to create a pursuits focused function, tied to key clients of the firm where this role is responsible for providing strategic advice to partners and client teams around the pursuit lifecycle of a client.

Working closely with a Senior BDM and also BD Director, you will receive genuine support on various pitches of significant value in addition to ongoing professional development. More junior candidates coming in at adviser level can be trained to grow into their first manager level role and more senior candidates can have their skills developed and refined.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work with BD colleagues and relevant tools to qualify tender and bid opportunities presented to ensure that they align with the firm's strategic direction and warrant investment.
  • Managing the end to end process of delivering tenders, expressions of interest, request for proposals, bid documentation and capability statements.
  • Review, analyse and understand all tender documentation in conjunction with partners, fee-earners and legal secretaries.
  • Coordinate the tender process, including coordinating relevant input from partners and fee-earners, finance and legal secretaries.
  • Ensure tenders are compliant with RFP criteria and contribute innovative best practices to improve the firm's success rate.
  • Manage and maintain currency of the tender database, tender clause bank, and tender and panel tracking document.
  • Ensure appropriate sign-off and approvals are provided for all tender documents and
  • Liaise with other members of the marketing team, knowledge management and finance to arrange graphics, pricing, capability statements and proofreading as/where required.

General Business Development and Marketing Responsibilities include:

  • Support partners on pursuit related business development and client relationship activities.
  • Prepare regular proposal pipeline and other business development/sales pipeline reports for Senior Business Development Manager and Partners.
  • Identify ongoing opportunities for improvement in the proposal preparation process and firm-wide use of CRM, implementing improvements in conjunction with the Senior BD Manager.
  • Conduct post-decision reviews/client listening with the Senior BD Manager for key client relationships and
  • Share business development innovations and best practices with the National Marketing and Knowledge Management teams.

The successful candidate:

  • Proven experience in project managing end to end tender and other bid document processes in a professional services environment. (e.g. accounting firm, law firm, management consulting or banking environment)
  • Ideally 3+ years' experience in a similar proposal support and/or business development role in a professional services environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Communications/Marketing or another discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Word, Excel and Powerpoint skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact at all levels of the firm with a client-centric focus.
  • Highly organised with ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
