(Jnr) Business Development Manager | Step-up from Adviser to Manager

Our client is looking for an experienced yet ambitious, driven and client-focused Business Development executive or adviser keen to take on a more senior role offering scope to grow to become a BDM within a tier-1 professional services environment and innovative BD function. Reporting to a senior BD leader, you will have support from a broader team in driving business development and marketing initiatives across key practice groups. This role also works closely with partners to advise them in relation to client engagement, pursuit activities, events, campaigns and thought leadership initiatives.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide business development and advisory services to the key practice groups, including: executing team strategy plans, planning for key stakeholders and execution of key practice group projects
  • Supervising others on execution of strategic events
  • Leading on several of the Legal Directory submissions for the group
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of practice group collateral and website
  • Ensure the capture and maintenance of relevant credentials / deal sheets
  • Provide key client account support to a number of nominated clients
  • Leading on practice group pitches and on firm-wide panel pitches
  • Assist with building the brand and profile of the firm and key groups
  • Assist local BD Managers with client facing legal education programme.

Required skills and qualifications

  • 5 years' business development/marketing and communications experience
  • Two years’ experience within professional services
  • Bachelor’s degree essential – preferably Marketing, Business, Law or Arts
  • Be a confident communicator, both verbal and written, with ability to influence and win the confidence of management, stakeholders and clients
  • Understanding and interest in the legal industry
  • Client-centric approach to work
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and be flexible to move between multiple projects to tight timeframes
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Be a team player, who is willing to chip in but also work autonomously when needed.
