Our client is a global leader in providing financial services and advice to companies and firms in relation to major litigation matters. Growing at a rapid rate, this business is looking to grow their team and seek a driven and ambitious marketing and/or BD generalist to join their team in Sydney.

This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with and learn from a highly regarded and talented Chief Marketing Officer; you will develop your skills and gain valuable exposure to marketing and BD strategy development, whilst enjoying working in company structure.

Role and Responsibilities

Planning and Reporting

  • Assist in developing business / marketing plans with CMO and key stakeholders for business units. (including for example geographic / regional plans, global focus groups etc)
  • Assist in driving and progressing activities in plans, analysing ROI, recording and reporting progress.

Business Development

  • Develop materials for sales proposals and pitches including: ’credentials', case-studies, team profiles, template powerpoint ‘slides’, etc.
  • Advise on and develop, with internal stakeholders, proposals and pitches for new business including articulating value proposition, creating and project managing documentation and materials, advising / coaching teams on presentations.
  • Obtain market feedback, analyse sales success and co-develop recommendations with CMO.

Market Feedback

  • Conduct ongoing market feedback interviews (eg matter debriefs), report findings and recommendations and progress actions arising.
  • Undertake research (eg competitors, market trends) for use in marketing strategies and communications.

Marketing Materials & Collateral

  • Create marketing collateral as required (may include Brochures, flyers, factsheets and guides for target audiences (eg for global focus group(s) etc).
  • Create multi-media assets for internal and external messaging.
  • Capture and write credentials and case studies for use in marketing and business development materials.


  • Identify and evaluate external conference opportunities, project manage and report involvement and ROI.
  • Conceive and project manage company-hosted conferences / events.

Marketing and Business Development Learning & Development

  • Assist with developing, coordinating and delivering a learning & development program to upskill Investment Managers in key marketing and business development competencies (including conceiving modules/topics, sourcing external facilitators/presenters and personally creating and delivering modules)

Internal communications

  • Write various internal communications (eg Global Staff Newsletter, c-suite messages to global staff and scripts for staff events and conferences)
  • Create and project manage internal communications on multi-media (eg arranging scripts, filming and editing of videos for internal distribution)

Investor Relations

  • Assist with investor relations communications including preparing Powerpoint decks for Investor Presentations, assisting writing and editing the Annual Report, etc)

Media and Government Relations

  • Assist with proactive relationship management for target media and government relations
  • Prepare Press Releases and key messages/briefing notes for media and government

Bespoke Projects

  • Assist with other projects as required

Role Requirements

This position is a dedicated marketing role and requires a focused individual who is highly-motivated and solution-oriented with excellent critical thinking skills, excellent written and verbal communication, a high degree of energy, the ability to promote the company through marketing campaigns and business development support, a thorough understanding of office procedures, accurate word processing skills, a willingness to provide support at all levels, and an outgoing, optimistic disposition.

This position is suited to someone who is flexible and comfortable managing multiple priorities and working in a dynamic environment in a growing organization.

Ideal Experience

  • Marketing experience in professional services or financial services and working with lawyers would be helpful, however candidates coming from a complex B2B services environment are considered to apply.
  • Years of experience aren’t a prerequisite.
  • Relevant experience in corporate marketing and business.

Experience in writing business-to-business marketing communications / materials and the following attributes:

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral

  • Strong project management and organisational skills - demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent Computer / IT skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and an appetite and ability to learn new systems

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, business or an applicable field would be valued
