This new role is an integral part of the Client Development function and comes with a lot of responsibility. These hands-on roles would suit candidates coming either from the legal sector or professional services that is able to display strong commercial awareness, organisational skills and BD & Marketing experience.

You will work with key stakeholders around the firm to further raise its profile in the Australian and international marketplace, helping support revenue generation, developing a business-winning culture, and sharing and encouraging best practice in business development and marketing.

Role responsibilities:

The role will be working alongside the Australian BD & Marketing Manager to establish BD and marketing plans and implement initiatives to help source new business and stimulate cross-selling. Main focus will cover Australian and Asia Pacific regions.

Business Development:

  • Product, market, client and competitive research – Help manage and disseminate intelligence to relevant stake holders and across the BD & Marketing team, as well as assist the Australian BD & Marketing Manager drive forward action plans aligned to projects and campaigns.
  • Under the direction of the Australian BD & Marketing Manager, attend meetings keeping a record of actions agreed and assist to achieve progress.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of the website and intranet to ensure BD & Marketing content is appropriate and up to date
  • Sectors - You will be required to assist in the implementation of sector business development strategies and their resulting activities across the business.
  • New business proposals – Where appropriate, play a hands on role to provide support to the BD & Marketing team when preparing pitch presentations, proposals, capability statements and tenders.
  • Support cross-border integration by encouraging and facilitating interaction utilising the firm’s partner and business development network to help develop new opportunities and leverage innovative ideas.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Digital, PR and Communications teams to help develop a stronger external profile across the firm, update respective web pages and assist in drafting other e-communications.
  • Help collate information for the production of award nominations and directory submissions and manage prospect and client data in the firm's Interaction CRM system.

Marketing

  • Campaign management - Support the Australian marketing team with implementation of existing campaign proposals, as well as potentially identify new client or market opportunities.
  • Work with the partners and other business marketing managers to promote thinking and development of issues-based integrated marketing campaigns, as well as achieve agreed objectives.
  • Consider types of events, conferences and client seminars, which will help, raise awareness of our expertise in key product areas and sectors.
  • Event planning, coordination and management (both internal and external events) - some before and after hours work required
  • Booking tickets/tables at external events and liaising with professional staff to draft invitations and invite clients
  • Drafting and distribution of event invitations (using Vuture and Interaction)
  • Conducting marketing research where required.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to ensure that the firms branding approach is implemented consistently and effectively and that messaging reflects national, regional and international requirements as appropriate.
  • Assist with the sourcing, development, review and dissemination of articles and content via digital and traditional media channels including LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Liaising with suppliers to source and order branded goods and supplies (business cards, notepads, seminar folders etc.)
  • Liaising with sponsorship contacts and managing sponsorship commitments and requirements.
  • Drafting and assisting with PPT presentations for internal and external events
  • Drafting of CVs and bios
  • Writing and collating newsletter content for various internal and external publications.

To be considered, candidates should present with anywhere from two to five years’ experience in business development or marketing, ideally in professional services or a sophisticated B2B services environment.
