Our client is an extremely successful Australian law firm, currently experiencing unprecedented revenue growth across all practice areas and taking market share for tier-1 firms. They are at the forefront of legal innovation and have an outstanding reputation for providing their clients with the highest quality service and expert legal advice.

Lead by a team of highly regarded and talented strategic individuals, the Marketing, Business Development and Client function is known for its supportive and collaborative approach to its work and the development of its people’s careers. 

Role responsibilities

  • Work closely with partners to develop strategic business and client plans.
  • Develop profile and credibility with internal clients (i.e. partners, lawyers and support staff), actively promoting the BD function, its expertise and capabilities.
  • Understand the firm’s client base, their businesses and the markets in which they operate.
  • Analyse general market, industry specific, competitor and prospective client research in support of marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Prepare and project manage tender/proposal submissions and monitor new business and tender opportunities.
  • Prepare tailored marketing collateral (including capability statements, client and industry presentations, partner profiles) in accordance with brand parameters.
  • Co-ordinate the directory and award submission process, working with Partners and lawyers to collate and approve information.
  • Participate in various national and department-based projects.
  • Develop and drive client focused events, with the aim to deepen client relationships and increase revenue. 

Required skills and qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline marketing or law highly regarded.
  • A minimum three years marketing, business development, or related experience.
  • Experience working in professional services, preferably in a legal or partnership environment.
  • Experience with tenders/proposals in a professional services environment.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral with exceptionally strong attention to detail.
  • Highly disciplined with ability to prioritise and manage a range of complex tasks in a deadline driven environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and project management skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office and a sound understanding of databases.
  • Energy, drive, resilience and a sense of urgency and commitment that will enable you to influence stakeholders and outcomes in a considered manner.
