The role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Marketing and Business Development professional to join our team in either our Sydney or Melbourne office.

This role will support our national Corporate team through the identification, development and pursuit of opportunities for revenue generation, client acquisition and client maintenance. The successful candidate will support the business development function for this team by assisting with client engagement, skills coaching (at partner and lawyer levels) and tender support.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Business development

  • Identify revenue opportunities to maintain and grow existing clients and to win work from target clients
  • Lead pursuits with our lawyers to win, grow and retain clients and targets
  • Coach partners and lawyers on business development skills (one-on-one and group sessions)

Client management

  • Develop and execute client plans to grow revenue from business units and firm clients
  • Build relationships within clients' teams to facilitate the identification and execution of opportunities
  • Undertake client listening and action feedback


  • Project manage the production of high quality tenders and pitches
  • Advise in relation to bid/no bid decision, pricing and value proposition
  • Coach stakeholders on tender best practice


  • Identify profiling and media opportunities related to significant deals, market developments, issues and insights
  • Develop legal directory responses (in particular the articulation of the value proposition) and participate in directory interviews
  • Maintain key business development tools (tender database, clause bank, deal register etc)
  • Work closely with the Senior Communications Manager to maximise BD opportunities from marketing campaigns

About you

To be considered for this role, you will be technically savvy, confident and passionate about Business Development with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a similar professional services role. You will have a solid understanding of the legal industry and the ability to work both autonomously as well as in a team environment. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ideally possess tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business or similar. This is a hands on role which would suit a good all-rounder business development professional.
