The Role

Dentons Rodyk is currently seeking a Business Development Senior Executive (BDSE) whose main role will focus on business development and marketing, in supporting the Firm’s practices and key clients in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region. The candidate will work within the firm’s Marketing department which is a high performing team providing business development, communications and marketing support to the firm’s 200 lawyers. The candidate is also expected to work with the respective global business development teams.

The BDSE is responsible for implementing the firm’s business development and marketing programmes. The role typically involves working with partners to profile their capabilities through the production of proposals, presentations, directory submissions and marketing materials. In addition, the BDSE is required to support the partners in client engagement activities such as developing client events, collating client intelligence and industry knowledge. The role of the BDSE tends to be very hands-on working with senior partners and the marketing team to develop strategic initiatives. The BDSE needs to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside relevant business development experience within the legal or other professional services sector.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Marketing in Singapore and working in collaboration with partners and the global Business Development teams, the candidate is expected to do the following

1. Planning/implementation

      • Implement and drive regional marketing and business development plans with regards to the assigned practices and sectors.
2. Profile raising
    • Team with lawyers and Marketing/Business Development staff around the world to market the services and expertise of the assigned practices and sectors through the development and deployment of thought leadership content and other profile-raising activities/events.
    • Work with the Firm's Communications team to draft press releases, pitch story ideas and provide spokespeople to reporters as appropriate, track published articles and consider social media strategy around key projects.
    • Manage submissions to high-profile publications, assist in articulating key messages for directory submissions and share best practices in the submissions process.
    • Work with Knowledge Management to develop client and market facing knowledge based marketing tools and materials - handbooks, Apps and tools, market knowhow, technical updates, training programs and seminars etc.

3. Client development

  • Collaborate with partners and global business development teams (where required) to enable client teams to develop more opportunities for the assigned practices and sectors.
  • Support the preparation of responses to requests for proposals or information and in preparing our lawyers for business development meetings with clients and prospects.

4. Content development

  • Review and continuously improve the practice group's suite of marketing materials, including capabilities statements, pitch templates, deals lists and website content (internal and external).
  • Drive internal communications globally for assigned practices and sectors, to assist in building a cohesive and well informed practice/sector.
  • Ensure the group's deals and work experience are collected on a regular and timely basis, submitted to the Firm’s credentials collation systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • A high level of proficiency (written and spoken) in the English language is a must
  • Minimum 5 years’ business development and/or marketing experience
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Law firm or professional services experience
  • Familiarity with ranking submissions, ie, Chambers & Partners and major league tables, etc
  • Experience in working with senior stakeholders/C-suite executives is preferred
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) and other database
