THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our market-leading BD team as a Business Development Consultant. You'll provide national support to our Employment, Industrial Relations and Safety (EIRS) practice group and some of our key sectors to deliver their BD strategy and champion growth initiatives.

This opportunity will be well-suited to a client-centric BD Consultant who enjoys coaching partners and lawyers and wants to grow towards taking on more strategic ownership of projects.

Day to day, you will be responsible for:

  • Focusing on driving new revenue by effectively coaching partners to pursue opportunities in new and emerging markets, including building the sales capability of the group
  • Providing tactical and strategic advice to the Regional Head of Practice and partners to develop the group's BD strategy
  • Contributing to the preparation of directory submissions, pitch and bid documents
  • Provide innovative ideas and facilitate the development of an improved client experience
  • Analyse firm client data to identify opportunities to undertake EIRS related work and assist with the development and implementation of appropriate strategies

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years' experience in a BD role with a particular focus on strategic selling, pursuits management, and account management. You'll be enthusiastic, proactive, and be confident managing multiple stakeholders in the decision making process.

You'll also have:

  • An undergraduate degree in commerce, business or related discipline.
  • Technical knowledge of business development specifically in tactical sales, negotiation and the principles of relationship building.
  • Experience building relationships with and coaching stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate Australia and the employment, industrial relations and/or safety law
  • would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities, building strategic relationships and networks internally and with clients, managing clients and pursuing new business.
  • Project management skills as well as experience in managing major bids. Demonstrated sound organisational, planning and project administration skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider national team.

Our brand, marketing and digital team help position us as thought leaders amongst our target markets in the areas we most want to be known for, by creating intuitive and engaging collateral, events and campaigns.

As part of the business development team, you will play a hands-on role in contributing to the firm’s success and helping to achieve its objectives. This could be as one of our business development professionals, coaching partners on relationship building, or building our brand as one of our marketing, design or events professionals.
