About the role

As part of the Australian Business Development & Marketing team, this role is focused on developing and executing the business development strategy for the Canberra centre (including the Commonwealth Government). The role will contribute to the firm’s Business Development strategy to execute against profitable growth opportunities by applying strategic business development, client account leadership, relationship building, market insight and brand enhancing skills.

You will be supported by a well-respected and highly collaborative National Business Development & Marketing team, and have responsibility for leading and mentoring the business development team in Canberra and at least one of the firm’s strategic or growth client relationships, plus supporting at least one of the firm’s sector strategies.

What experience are we looking for?

Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years’ experience with a demonstrated track record of success in leading business development teams within a corporate, professional services or related organisation.

For you to be successful in the role, you will have the following key skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective day to day/operational business development management support both directly and via a team
  • Able to mentor and lead a high-performing team, including identify development and support needs
  • Experience developing and implementing revenue enhancing and profitable business and marketing strategies
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities, as a result of research and analysis of business trends, market and competitor intelligence
  • Understanding of the government sector and procurement processes
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal with high attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle numerous high visibility projects in a fast-paced environment working to tight timetables; composed under pressure
  • Experience in fulfilling a range of relationship management roles from leader to facilitator
  • Ability to win the confidence of clients (internal and external) and be a ‘team player’
  • Sound judgment regarding how/when to push key agenda items forward and how to build interest or buy-in and influence cultural change
