Business Development Manager/Sector Manager

L.E.K. Australia is seeking a highly motivated BDM/Sector Specialist to work closely with Partners, Marketing and key stakeholders to play a key role in managing client and prospect lists and developing key client plans and pursuits. You will have a strong working knowledge of the sector opportunities and client base you support, and use this to ensure that we execute winning business. Being proactive and with a continuous improvement mindset, you drive best practice knowledge management into the practice.

L.E.K. has a large and growing Transport practice in Australia. The practice is headed by 5 partners, and works extensively on the east coast of Australia and NZ for both Government and corporate clients. Focused on future transport strategy and technology, and working with organisations to deliver first class transportation systems this practice is deeply interested in the transition to connected and automated vehicles, mobility and the impacts of technology disruption.

What you'll do

Business development

  • Work with Sector leaders (Partners) to manage client and prospect lists and prioritise key accounts for client management planning
  • With the practice partners and key stakeholders, develop and maintain key client plans for prioritised clients and monitor trends/opportunities regarding key clients, competitors and the Sectors more broadly.
  • Create, enhance and manage an opportunity, tenders and pitch processes for the cluster/sectors, including supporting case teams with best practice self-help tools, guidelines and processes to execute a winning pursuit.
  • Develop and maintain a library of standard proposal sections and credentials packs
  • Support the partners and managers in CRM maintenance, proposal writing, meeting scheduling and panel administration.

Case management

  • Create and drive best practice knowledge management initiatives into the Practice, including enhancing and managing systems to capture, categorise and share Practice information across the cluster.
  • Formalise and oversee case kick offs and case closing activities, so that they are integrated with bus development needs and continuous improvement for the cluster and support consulting staff case teams with industry primers, "best of" case materials and kick-off frameworks.


  • Provide support to the Marketing function on Publications and IP
  • Be an important link between the sector practice a marketing to ensure thought leadership, PR and events are integrated

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar professional service organisation.
  • Strong track record of achieving results and high performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional relationship and influencing skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter

Your demonstrable experience working closely with senior business leaders in a professional services environment and results driven nature will see you succeed in this role.
