Our Business Development team

The National Business Development team at MinterEllison is a high performing and critical component of the firm and essential to the firm's success. The Business Development team supports the partnership by providing the full spectrum of business development and marketing services to ensure the firm develops and maintains strong relationships with new and existing clients.

The Major Proposals team is responsible for managing the whole proposal lifecycle of the firm's significant tenders and proposals, working closely with BD leads and subject matter experts. The team also drives proposal best practice across the firm through a client-focused approach, training and content development.

Your Role

An opportunity has opened in the Business Development team for a nationally focused Proposal Consultant, operating from the Melbourne office. This role will report into the lead Proposal Manager. It is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to accelerate their career in proposal management and writing. You will gain exposure to multiple practice areas and partner with leading business development and legal experts to develop tailored proposals for high profile projects and clients.

In this role you will deliver and enable best practice proposal management. Responsibilities include:

  • Project managing client sales submissions (proposals/tenders) in response to specific client proposal and quote requests
  • Coordinating and tailoring proposals for significant public sector clients and ASX clients
  • Drafting responses including re-working content from the firm's content library and working with subject matter experts to develop tailored content for each client
  • Managing internal stakeholders from across the firm during the proposal process
  • Contributing to broader team initiatives including proposal training activities to upskill the firm in best practice methodologies
  • Assisting with content gathering for inclusion in the firm's proposal intellectual capital library, for reuse in future proposals.

What you need

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resourceful professional with:

  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Business, Commerce, Law or relevant Arts degree
  • 2-5 years direct proposal/tender experience, preferably in a law firm
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and tailoring proposals for government/public sector and ASX clients
  • Excellent written and oral skills, with Microsoft suite design experience highly regarded
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment and manage a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and contribute to projects or initiatives
  • A strong, proactive client service focus and client-focused writing capability
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
