Business Development Executive - Energy & Project Finance

With plenty of disruption and innovation taking place in the energy sector, it’s an exciting industry to be working in and presents some complex legal challenges. We’re offering the opportunity for a Business Development Executive to support our efforts to build business with new and existing energy clients, leveraging our major sponsorships, thought leadership and legal market intelligence in this area.

As Business Development Executive, you’ll work closely with Partners across the national firm to develop and implement the business development strategy for energy clients and our project finance practice. This will include management of the budget, as well as working with other internal teams to produce bids and tenders, activate sponsorships and write PR content.

To be successful, you must have solid experience within B2B business development in a professional services firm and be comfortable working in a close-knit, national team. The position suits an individual who manages stakeholders well and has a positive and proactive approach to tackling new challenges.

The key responsibilities and requirements for this role are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Work with specified Partners across the national firm to develop strategic business development plans for Energy clients and the Project Finance practice group.
  • Identify opportunities for growth in revenue and reputation through market and competitor analysis.
  • Working with the Tender Manager, provide guidance and strategic input into significant opportunities, tenders or pitches, developing our value proposition.
  • Identify and deliver on opportunities to leverage existing sponsorships, industry seminars and conferences in order to raise the profile of the firm.
  • Campaign design and project management, with a view to generating qualified leads and differentiating us from our competitors.
  • Work with Partners to write market commentary, legal updates and other marketing and PR content.
  • Support other Marketing and Business Development programs and projects as required.
  • Contribute to building a positive climate and a culture of continuous improvement within the Marketing and Business Development team through knowledge and best practice sharing, innovation and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within relationship or account based marketing programs and B2B buyers’ decision process.
  • Excellent writing, editing and communications skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement commercially-focused strategic plans.
  • Ability to influence and challenge senior executives on the value and strategic alignment of proposed client and business development activities.
  • Ability to identify value proposition based on client needs matched with expertise.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of competing priorities and a willingness and aptitude for addressing issues and finding solutions to problems.
