Having successfully recruited for Baker McKenzie across the Asia-Pacific for over a decade, we have been retained to source this newly scoped position in the Australian team. This opportunity has arisen due to other BD professionals’ career progression within the firm. Baker McKenzie offer a genuinely global perspective and operate without boundaries around the world.

This role will manage the strategic focus of the In-Market operations for the Transactional Practice Groups nationally, with a focus on Corporate and Major Projects. This role will also have responsibility for two industry groups and a client portfolio. You will have one BD Consultant direct report and benefit from well resourced teams including Specialised Functions (Tender/Pursuit, Client, Communications, Marketing) on the ground and globally as well as End-to-End Service Centres which follow the sun around the globe. This means that this Senior BD Manager will be able to focus on value add strategic work as well as being an expert project manager to pull all these resources together to deliver BD initiatives.

The prime purpose of the role will be to developing a strategic focused, market-leading BDMC business-partnering capability which enables the Transactional Practice Groups in the Australian offices to win, retain and grow business through consistently high standards, engaging thought leadership as well as strong relationship and account management.

Who should apply?

We are seeking talented Senior Manager candidates who bring commerciality, a client centric approach and a global mindset. Professional services BD experience is a given; and we are also seeking experience in another global environment. Candidates from Big 4 accounting as well as law firms are preferred and we will be interested in candidates used to acting as project manager in pulling global and local resources together. Demonstrable success managing key accounts and coaching Partners on strategic BD initiatives will also be important.
