China Business Development Assistant

Working closely with our Principal (China Business Relations), you will have dynamic and challenging work with a diverse variety of clients based in China. The Role

You will play a key role in managing Chinese file work as well as identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities by generating leads which will raise Shelston's profile in China.

In this role, you will take ownership of your responsibilities and assist the Principal (China Business Relations) to ensure all tasks are accomplished and clients’ expectations are met.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Review, respond to and follow up on correspondence from Chinese clients, potential clients and Shelston IP personnel
  • Keep up to date with and advise the Principal (China Business Relations) of any significant new Chinese precedent cases or changes to statutes or business conditions in China relevant to IP
  • Maintain the Chinese website and other electronic forms for the promotion of the firm
  • Maintain the China marketing database so that the firm has an accurate and clear record of the marketing interactions with our Chinese clients
  • Assist with the procurement of marketing materials/merchandise specifically targeted to the Chinese market
  • Coordinate and plan marketing events.
  • Conduct and analyse research on the Chinese IP market to allow for better identification/understanding of marketing opportunities.
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of marketing trips.

Essential Skills and Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge and understanding of the patent and trademark industry in China, as well as a strong command of both spoken and written Chinese and English languages. Experience working in Intellectual Property within mainland China is a must. You will also have excellent attention to detail along with the ability to manage workflow effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
