GrellPresidentAlex has been involved with ICON for almost six years having served on both the Hong Kong Committee and Board of Directors. He was elected Association President in October 2015. As President, Alex chairs a Board of Directors dedicated to the provision of a professional development and engagement network for sales, marketing and communications practitioners working for the leading B2B firms in Asia Pacific.
Alex is the Asia Pacific Pursuits Leader for EY based in Hong Kong and has been with EY for nearly eight years. He has over 20 years professional services sales and major pursuits campaign management experience and has forged a career spanning private companies, public companies, a private company through IPO, a partnership and not-for-profit organisation across Europe, Asia and Australia.
Alex is a keen triathlete and fanatical follower of football, rugby and cricket.
McNaughtonVice PresidentFraser McNaughton is ICON’s Vice President. He has been heavily involved with ICON (APSMA) for 8 years, having initially joined the NSW Committee before his Board appointment in 2013. As VP, Fraser is dedicated to working with our member firm CMOs to jointly grow the capabilities and the standing of ICON’s members within their respective firms.
For a day job Fraser is Chief Marketing Officer of leading mid-tier firm, Grant Thornton Australia. Based in Sydney he leads a national team of highly experienced and enthusiastic marketing, sales and communications professionals, together responsible for defining and delivering Grant Thornton’s go to market vison, strategy and objectives. Fraser is an experienced and intuitive marketing and sales professional who, as a member of Grant Thornton’s senior leadership team, has a particular passion for improving client interactions as a driver of better experiences and the foundation to brand loyalty and sustainable revenue growth.
Outside of work Fraser enjoys quality time with his family and prolonging his football career as long as he can.
MorrisonTreasurerLynn is an assurance partner in EY Sydney’s core assurance practice, and is the first assurance partner with mainland China background in big 4 accounting firms in Australia and leads EY Oceania’s China Assurance Practice. Lynn’s aspiration at EY is to build a strong China assurance practice that will provide exceptional service experience to clients and a great platform for Asian background professionals to succeed.
Lynn specialises in auditing and providing financial advices to clients across a range of industries, including energy and renewable energy, industrial market (building and construction, civil engineering), telecommunication and technologies, with a focus in the Australia-China corridor. Lynn’s first hand commercial experience in China and deep knowledge about Australia commercial market enables her to provide professional services with commercial insights and with deep understanding on the needs of Chinese investment in Australia and the opportunities and challenges Chinese companies may face in the Australian market.
Lynn is married to Ian with two young girls, Chloe and Isla.
ThomasSecretaryPenny has been involved in ICON since 2012, starting as a Committee Member in the Victorian Chapter, before moving to Singapore and joining the committee there. Penny then led the Singapore Chapter as the Singapore Chair for over 18 months, bringing the chapter from the post start-up phase to one of ICON's most successful new chapters, before joining the ICON Board of Directors in 2016.
Penny has over 12 years' experience in business development, client engagement, marketing and communications in the professional services sector and has worked for large professional services firms in Australia and Singapore.
Currently based in Singapore, Penny is the Head of Business Development Marketing, Asia Pacific at JLL, the world’s best known property firm. At JLL, Penny is responsible for driving the business development and client development strategy for JLL’s regional offering, across 16 markets in Asia Pacific.
Outside of JLL and ICON, Penny is a keen traveller and loves good food, F45 training and surfing.
BlackburnDirectorSarah has been involved in ICON for over six years, starting as a Committee Member and Chair of the Queensland Committee, before moving to Hong Kong and joining the committee there. In the last two years Sarah has been a member of the team delivering the Australia & New Zealand Conference and joined the ICON Board of Directors in 2017.
Sarah has over 14 years experience in marketing and business development with 12 of those in professional services in Hong Kong and Australia
Sarah is currently Client Relationship Program Manager at GHD and has previously held senior marketing and business development roles at UDIA (Qld), PwC, URS and John Holland.
Brandon-KingDirectorGaby is a Senior Marketing and Business Development professional with a solid background in banking and professional services. With Europe-wide and Asia-Pacific experience, Gaby's competence is well engaged across many sectors and cultures.

HalliburtonDirectorLucia is an experienced services marketer whose skills in sales, marketing and client management and strong stomach were established in the medical and not-for-profit sectors prior to joining the professional services sector a decade ago. At the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office Lucia is responsible for driving a business development culture and innovation in a public sector legal office of approximately 130 lawyers in a competitive legal market. Prior to joining the VGSO, Lucia was responsible for managing key clients, running client pursuits and tenders across the government, pharmaceutical, financial services, insurance and retail sectors in both large national and mid sized commercial law firms. Lucia continues to develop her knowledge of the sector through active involvement in the professional services marketing community and spent seven years as and active member of the ICON Melbourne committee.
LamaroDirectorKatrina has been involved in ICON for the last seven years, having served on the NSW Committee for much of this time. In her more recent role as a Board member, she has been actively engaged in providing support to ICON’s headquarters.
With more than 20 years’ professional experience (much of this gained through the professional services and media sectors), Katrina is currently responsible for marketing and brand globally for GHD, working closely with the regional teams and General Manager, Strategy. She also leads the Corporate Marketing and Communications team. Katrina joined GHD in 2011 and prior to this, had senior roles with both Thomson Geer Lawyers and Ashurst (Blake Dawson).
Katrina has a strong appreciation for good red wine and enjoys spending the small amount of free time she has with friends and family.
Mackeson-SmithDirectorNick is an expert in learning and organisational development with 16 years of experience within the financial services, management consultancy, technology and public sectors. He’s really interested in finding out what makes things tick, and is a skilled coach.
Nick is the Organisational development lead at Spark. Prior to Spark, Nick led Deloitte's learning and development function in New Zealand and has held a number of different L&D roles at Goldman Sachs, Lloyd's of London, Schroders and Barclays Capital in the UK.
Nick loves all kinds of music, craft beers, and football (soccer).
McKenzieDirectorJason has been a member of ICON since 2000 and served on the Queensland committee for several years before joining the Board of Directors in 2013. Jason is one of two Board sponsors for the Regional Committee Succession Planning Project.
Jason is a partner at Katanya, an international consultancy, specialising in digital strategy and branding. Starting in advertising and publishing and moving into digital marketing and brand management, he has over 15 years’ experience in professional services marketing and prior to joining Katanya, was director of online marketing for PwC's global brand and communications.
Jason is based in Brisbane where he also serves on the committee of Alliance Française de Brisbane and is proud of being part of the re-establishment of the Queensland Literary Awards.
MooreDirectorNick was elected to the Board in 2016. He has been involved with ICON since 2014, initially serving as Chair of the Hong Kong Committee where he also presides over the association's flagship annual Asia Conference. Part of Nick's Board role involves providing support for ICON's latest chapter in Shanghai.
Nick has over 15 years’ experience working in professional services. Based in Hong Kong, he leads business development in North Asia for Clyde & Co, a rapidly expanding global law firm. Before moving to Hong Kong in 2013, Nick was based in London.
In addition to being a music aficionado, Nick is a keen footballer and cyclist.
PatelDirectorAs the National Business Development Manager, Russell McVeagh in New Zealand Sunil is responsible for progressing firm-wide business development initiatives and advises on key areas of strategic importance relating to the operation and management of growth to the firm. He became a member of the firm's senior management team in 2009, after joining the firm in 2005.
Prior to working in the professional services sector, Sunil held positions in both New Zealand and the UK, including a national role with a financial services company and Sky Television.
Outside of work his passions include fine wine, travel, skiing and when time allows, cycling.
PowellDirectorElected in early 2018 Karen is a fresh face on the ICON Board. With 17 years experience in the B2B Marketing industry Karen brings with her big ideas and an undeniable passion for strategic innovation.
Presently, Karen works alongside her rapidly growing team at McCorkell to drive regional strategic innovation for their clients who include VMware, SAP, Lexus, AMEX and IBM. Karen encourages global enterprises to focus on authentic customer-centricity strategies supported by modern marketing principles to deliver on primary business objectives. It is her belief that every marketing interaction is an opportunity to improve their client’s bottom line.
Her hobbies include supporting the development of women entering or returning to the workforce within the technology sector.
