“What’s the best piece of advice that anyone ever gave you?”

ICON is excited to announce its final event in the Next Step program – an interactive panel event covering all things ‘What I Wish I’d Known’. Join three industry leaders as they take a trip back in time and offer the advice that would have made the difference when making moves in their early careers.

Our panellists will share personal lessons, learnings from their teams and industry insights, specifically around navigating career progression. From the mistakes they made to the advice that rang true, our experts will be sharing their practical ‘no holds barred’ tips on how to get ahead in your career.

This will be an interactive session via Zoom, so we’d love your cameras on and for you to come ready with questions to put to our panellists!

Presenter Details:

Lucia Halliburton

Describing herself as an ‘optimistic, patient and persistent business developer’, Lucia Halliburton’s career spans both public and private sector roles. Lucia started her professional life in the pathology industry and accidentally ended up in law firms for 14 years where she supported talented lawyers from intellectual property through to franchising, corporate and banking and finance across major and mid size firms. She spent six years in the public service at the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office and is currently the Senior Manager of Development and Innovation at AMES Australia, a Victorian Government entity that provides services to refugees and migrants across settlement, employment and education. Lucia brings perspective from business development roles across the public and private sector.


Damian Garthwaite

Damian Garthwaite has had a widely varied career, including being an art and merchandising director, an advertising creative, an accountant and more recently holding roles in client management and business development in professional services. Damian will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge around transitioning to different roles and industries to the conversation.


Lurnea Simmons

Lurnea is a senior leader and executive with over 15 years’ experience in the insurance sector. She has been responsible for designing customer experience strategy and engaging employees through implementation, change and continuous improvement. Lurnea has led organisations through international expansion, acquisition, integration and mergers. She has also designed the customer and employee experience to achieve new business horizons and innovation. Also a coach and a mentor, Lurnea will provide great insights into personal and team development in the session.
