The ICONic Book Club is kicking into gear for 2025 and our second discussion will be held on 9 May. The book is Faking it: Artificial Intelligence in a Human World by Toby Walsh.

AI is increasingly shaping how firms engage with clients, create content, and deliver insights. Does this mean AI is going to take all our jobs? How do ICON members differentiate our human expertise from automated solutions?  How do we leverage AI effectively rather than being replaced by it?  In this book Professor Walsh puts a flame to AI and looks at where machines excel and where they fall short. His critique has surprising relevance for professional services firms and is a compelling read for professionals navigating AI’s growing presence in business and society.

During the book club we will:

  • Share our reactions and insights on the book's key themes and arguments
  • Discuss the strengths and limitations of AI and relevance to our work
  • Discuss the new skills and mindsets marketing and BD professionals need to thrive alongside AI?

Come prepared to share your own ideas and experiences to contribute to a meaningful discussion.
