APSMA NSW is excited to announce the launch of the 2017 Next Step Program.
Next Step events are designed to support the development of up-and-coming marketing, communications and business development professionals. The program of events has been specifically created to help expand skill sets, build professional networks and provide inspiration for career success.
The program is a series of five separate events run over the course of a year (each interactive event runs for approximately 1 hour, with networking opportunities within a Sydney CBD venue).
We are excited to invite you to our first event of 2017 and share what we have in store for the rest of the year.
Although individual registration and attendance is available, we encourage attendees to take advantage of the Next Step Program package which provides the opportunity to register for all five events in the series at a discounted cost. More details on registration for this series are located at the end of this email.

Next Step Session 1 – Trend alert: Breaking down the professional services buzzwords
What do our clients want? How are we responding to client demand and solving their real issues? What is client insight and how do understand the common themes across our clients? Are we disrupting, or being disrupted? The questions we all hear on a regular basis – but how are these answered in 2017?
Join our panel of experts including Head of Sales and Pursuits at Deloitte, James Taylor, Head of Client Engagement at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Sarah Chisman-Duffy, and Head of Legal Service Innovation at Gilbert + Tobin, Caryn Sandler, who will explore these questions as well as trends and themes they are seeing across the professional services market.
A little about each of our panellists.
With more than 20 years’ of business development leadership and coaching experience, James knows how to get results. He has designed and delivered organisation-wide sales process tools and training for sales and pipeline management, pricing, negotiation and sales strategies, proposals and presentations as well as recruited and managed high performing senior sales managers and coaches. He also has a passion for incorporating design thinking into sales methodologies and playbooks to create client-centred sales experiences.
With a strong business background and over 15 years’ experience working within the legal and financial sectors in the US, UK, Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific, Sarah is accomplished at identifying client and market issues, creating detailed research programs and developing insights that enable law firm leaders and senior legal marketers to develop robust and effective strategic plans. Working closely with Australian, regional and global law firm clients, Sarah delivers incisive market intelligence, insightful analysis of changing client behaviours and an in depth knowledge of the evolving global legal marketplace. Sarah’s excellence in her field has been recently recognised by having been nominated for the 2016 Marketing Professional of the Year with Lawyers Weekly.
Caryn leads Gilbert + Tobin’s Legal Service Innovation Team. This team provides specialised services to support their legal service delivery and innovation to deliver new tools and services benefitting Gilbert + Tobin’s clients. Caryn’s role encompasses responsibility for lawyers and business support staff working across Knowledge + Practice Innovation, Legal Technology and Legal Project Management.
